Our MARK16 postdoc, Mina Monier, has read a paper at the Middle East regional meeting of the Catholic Biblical Federation, on the 29th of January. The title of the paper was “The ‘Gospel’ between Luke and Marcion: A Window into the Text of Luke in the Second Century.” After surveying scholarship and successive constructions of Marcion’s Evangelion, from Harnack to the recent work of Matthias Klinghardt, Monier offered his understanding of the text’s development in light of his recently published studies on Luke-Acts, within the context of early second century Rome (here and here).
His paper was warmly welcomed by the Federation and a written chapter based on this paper will be published in the edited volume that covers the proceedings of the meeting, in 2022.
It is noteworthy to state that Monier is one of the Middle Eastern scholars who are committed to promote biblical scholarship in Arabic language.
